While many MSU students begin by living in residence halls, nearly all students eventually live off campus.  For many students living off campus is the first opportunity to live independently, sign a lease, and participate as an adult in a community.

There are a variety of resources to help you decide what is the right type of living environment for you, and how to enter into a rental experience in an informed manner.

The Community Liaison is the primary resource for students living in the East Lansing community (about 12,000 a year), and the Off Campus Living site has lots of information about renting and community events.  Watch the “Rental World MSU” video for helpful and entertaining information.

The Student Life Department provides a searchable web-based listing service of housing options available in the Lansing area, and sponsors an annual Housing Fair in October.

The City of East Lansing also provides rental housing resources and helpful information on local ordinances.
