Michigan State University is intricately tied with the local communities and works to develop mutually-beneficial, colaborative relationships. Because nearly 12,000 MSU students live in the City of East Lansing, connections with the local community are a priority. MSU and the City of East Lansing are proud of their extensive and long-standing partnerships.
The Division of Student Affairs and Services, in particular through the Community Liaison, is the primary link between the local community and all things relating to students who live and visit there. The Office of Govermental Affairs is the primary link with local, state and national law makers. Regional economic development and community patnerships are also focused in this office.
The Office of University Outreach and Engagement fosters scholarship and service that apply to a broad range of community-defined needs. It’s goal is to connect community knowledge with university knowledge in mutually-beneficial ways.
