Multiple Graduate Assistant (GA) positions are available annually in departments within Student Affairs and Services. These positions provide a significant professional apprenticeship for the GA while helping provide programs and services that support student learning, success, and retention.

Graduate Assistants in Student Affairs and Services departments come from many disciplines, but predominantly from educational administration and the social sciences. To obtain a GA position, students must:

  1. be admitted to a graduate degree program and
  2. have experience and qualifications that relate to the position requirements.

Please consult these Guidelines before applying for GA position, and be sure that you have appropriate qualifications.

Application for these positions generally begins in January with selection throughout the summer, but optimal timelines vary by department. It is in a candidate’s best interest to begin checking in late fall; details about the various positions and procedures for applying are available through the Unit web pages below. Because some GA’s return to a position for multiple years, the number of open positions each year will vary.

An overview of GA opportunities for the coming year within each department in Student Affairs and Services is available.
